With a background in dance, psychology and philosophy, my artistic practice reflects a research on the identity politics of “being” and its potential embodiments. 

My works can be defined as "performative sculptures", where gestures continue to resonate beyond the material manifestation, whether shaped in clay, marble, metal, or other primal, origin materials . The performative dimension also takes on a ritualistic character — not social or standardised dimension, but rather, a total, holistic, expression of body and spirit.

Through a creative process - installed between two poles, the sensitive and the intelligible -, my creative actions evolve along a path that is that of a quest for the identity of the being, inscribing itself in a space that is at once psychic, imaginary and territorial.

Through the act of creation I try to reveal the being of the artwork by the material, when the eclosion of the presence erects a world and gives to things their movements, their remoteness, their rapprochement to the central kernel. The material is the intermediary that opens a channel from this world to the being. Therefore, I take this moment of stasis as the path that can take you down to the source and then leads to the hearth of sensations in which we bathe at birth.

More essentially, my sculptural practice is rooted in research on mud which I approach as an original material. Recently I have studied marble sculpture and foundry, in order to research a common organicity in these materials, which have qualities opposite to those of the earth. Thus, between subtractive and additive gestures, sometimes humanoid creatures unfold under my fingers, which in turn are born, merge and transform, moving from plant to animal, from mineral to organic...

This making is a melee between my body and the material, where the shapes are indissociable from the gesture. The shape emerges as a space I try to inhabit with my body. Undoubtedly, practicing contemporary dance has influenced my connection with movement in sculpture.

I feel the need to involve my body in the making of my pieces and, more specifically, I experiment using processes with my body as a medium. As each human being is creating the experience of their own body in everyday life, I use mine and shape it as a medium of projective identification. Therefore, in the act of creation I am in combat; the co-belonging of the body and the material, and invite the spectator to explore the metaphor of inhabiting the space of their own body.

À travers un processus de création installé entre les bornes du sensible et de l’intelligible, mes actions créatives s’élaborent sur un chemin qui est celui d’une quête d’identité de l’être ; s’inscrivant dans un espace tant psychique, imaginaire, que territorial.

Au creux de l’argile - mon matériau de prédilection - se jouent les questions de l’engendrement des formes et du temps qui se délie. Ma pratique de la danse ayant eu une influence majeure dans mon rapport au mouvement. Chacune de mes productions m’est un moyen d’habiter la matière. Ainsi, se manifestent les sujets de  l'incarnation et de la métamorphose, à travers l’émergence des formes et des corps. 

L’aspect rituel et performatif de ma pratique est un acte de transfiguration, lequel donne à voir non pas des rituels qui revêtiraient une dimension sociale et normée, mais plutôt d’offrir à la vue de tous des contres rituels en sondant l’espace de la création, qui m’est un endroit de libre arbitre où l’expression du corps et de l’esprit est totale.

Ainsi, l’impulsion de ma recherche se situe à l’endroit sensible, infra mince de l’être et du corps, – tout être humain faisant l’expérience de son propre corps – au moyen de la sculpture et de la performance j’utilise le mien et le figure comme un médium de projection identificatoire. Il s’agit d’une invitation pour le regardeur à explorer la métaphore qui est celle d’habiter l’espace de son propre corps.

C’est pourquoi, à travers ces processus mis en œuvre pour faire œuvre s’érige un monde qui par l’intermédiaire de la matérialité du médium ouvre un canal vers l’être des choses. Ce moment est alors à saisir comme le chemin qui me permet de descendre à la source, au foyer de sensations dans lequel nous baignons à la naissance...
